Lies I Live By Review Tour and Giveaway

Lies I Live By
by Lauren Sabel

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: YA Thriller
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

These are the facts: My name is Callie Sinclair. I am seventeen years old. I live in San Francisco. I love my boyfriend, Charlie. I work for a secret governmental agency. I am a psychic spy. This romantic, action-packed twist on the classic spy novel is perfect for fans of Ally Carter’s Embassy Row series or for any reader who enjoys cinematic writing and stories of romance and intrigue.

At seventeen, Callie is the government’s youngest psychic spy, trained to track dangerous people and weapons in her visions. When another young—and handsome and witty—psychic joins the agency, Callie’s personal and professional lives get messy all at once. If she can’t find a way to change the events she’s seen in her visions, she could lose the people she loves most . . . and her mind. Literally.

Richly painted against the backdrop of San Francisco and Berkeley, Lauren Sabel’s enthralling novel captures the thrill of exploring a unique power in a dangerous world.

Excerpt Three:

Right now, all over the world, there are psychics searching for dangerous weapons, biological hazards, serial killers. But you’ll never know about it. The government will deny it.  “That is not reliable information,” they will say, not mentioning the hundreds of psychics behind closed doors, accurately finding kidnapped people and murder victims.  They won’t tell you about how some minds can see below the ground, above the earth, backwards and forwards in time. And they won’t tell you that some of them are housed in mental institutions, or that one of them is your neighbor, or that one of them is below the legal voting age. Or that, for those people, life is a secret they can’t share, so they are always alone, except for one place: In their own minds.

Review:

I loved the voice of this book and the idea of a 17 year old psychic spy. Callie has all the life of a James Bond character, but packed into the life and loves of a teen. Lying to her parents and managing to save multitudes is just the beginning.

Endangered Blog Tour and Giveaway

Endangered (Daughter of Hades #1)
by
Dani Hoots
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy
Release Date: May 13th 2016

Summary from Goodreads:

Chrys has been in the Underworld for thousands of years, hidden away by her father, Hades, from all of the other gods. He's afraid that if someone finds out about her, they will destroy her because of the dichotomous power that she holds, the power of life and death. So she has remained in the Palace of Hades all her life, making very few friends and always bored out of her mind.

Huntley would have never guessed that after he died he would wake up with a beautiful girl standing over him. And that she would be the Dark Lord of the Underworld's daughter. Yet, for some reason, she keeps him around as her tutor, as if he knows anything about the world. But Huntley knows that all she really wants is a friend; being trapped in the Underworld can get pretty lonely.

That is, until Chrys decides she wants to run away to the human world after a big fight with her mother Persephone. Chrys claims her father is just over reacting and that nothing bad will come of it. There's no way that the gods will notice she's there for only a couple of days...right?

Review:

Hades and Persephone have a daughter and to keep her safe, he locks her up in the Underworld. But as teenagers do, she finds a way to escape. A good light teen read with some fun moments. I love twists on mythology and this is one of my favorites. I can't say that I liked this particular version of Persephone (a bit vain and unpleasant) but the story had a good premise and I'm looking forward to more in the series.

*typos in the book need to be scrubbed.
